What is Esotericism?

Esotericism is sacred wisdom teachings that are reserved for people who devote themselves to the pursuit of truth. This word is used in contrast to that which is "exoteric" which are teachings often shared publicly and with the masses, often making it easy accessible, as well as easier to learn and understand because it requires little discipline or application from the one learning. Similar to the difference between common topics taught in grade school verses sacred wisdom gleaned by monks tucked away in private learning settings.

Why Does Esotericism Matter?

Universal principles that govern the cosmos and the fabric of our existence are complex, paradoxical, and require major paradigm shifts from typical narratives taught in the mainstream. For the majority, these wisdom endeavors are not appealing due to the overwhelming, and potentially maddening, weight of the deeper knowledge waiting to be tapped into. For spiritual practitioners, though, esotericism is a motivating force, driving the exciting and energetic search for truth, divinity, and wisdom herself.

How Can I Practice Esotericism?

Esotericism is an overwhelming large space with many different voices, minds, and opinions to look to for answers. My best advice to anyone wanting to dive into esoteric wisdom, is to start by unlearning everything you think you know, learning to truly know and trust what your intuition is telling you through a strong connection to your higher self, and then carefully studying and exploring wisdom topics, finding what resonates, and holding everything loosely along the way. Know that your understanding of any given topic will be ever-expanding and evolving too.
