What Are Candles?

Candles are a powerful magickal tool for connecting with the element of fire and are often a go-to for rituals, spells, and spiritual workings. Intentions can be put into candles through hand-pouring, hand-painting, dressing them with oil and herbs, or using colors that correspond energetically, such as black for protection workings or white for purification workings.

Why Do Candles Matter?

Candles act as a fuel to direct intentions and set the tone for various magickal workings and rituals. Candles are often lit to connect with or honor other energies, such as another person, someone who is deceased, or a divine being. Though it sounds simple, they are quite effective.

How Can I Work With Candles?

Start by learning about different types of candles, wicks, and colors. Smaller candles, such as chime candles, are great for simple spells or quicker workings, tea lights are also great for similar workings and reasons. Larger candles, such as 7-day prayer candles are great for ancestral and deity work as they have a longer burn time.
